Reuben Sutter, MD

Medical Director and Founder

As the founder of Sage Neurosciences Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Sutter’s Intensive Outpatient Program in Addictions and Behavioral Health serve more than 10,000 patients with a clinical staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists and psychotherapists. A native of Southern California and graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Dr. Sutter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and brings his proven commitment to compassionate patient care to the founding of Novation Center.

Arthur Davis, III

Movement & Fitness Director

Arthur comes to Novation as a worldwide expert in physical fitness and Acrobatic Gymnastics. He is four-time National Champion and two-time World Champion in Acrobatic Gymnastics. USA Gymnastics named him Athlete of the Year 2003 and 2004. After retiring from Acrobatic Gymnastics he and his partner Shenea Booth formed Realis consulting with Ciruque du Soleil. Realis was a guest star on So You Think You Can Dance, Australia. In 2006 Realis was a top-ten finalist for America’s got Talent. Booth and Davis also toured numerous years with the TJ Maxx Tour of Olympic Gymnastic Champions. In 2014 Davis developed Acro Army which became a top-three finalist for America’s Got Talent that same year. Acro Army has toured and performed extensively since. He has a passion for developing programs of creative movement with interpersonal dynamic that goes beyond the subjective to a community experience. He trains and coaches from his studio in Redlands, California.

Jennifer Farrell, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Farrell comes to Novation Center as the clinical provider. She has more than 10 years experience working in addiction medicine. She is board certified in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry and addiction medicine. She attended Loma Linda University School of Medicine then completed residency and specialization in addiction medicine at the University of Hawaii where she was Chief Resident. Dr. Farrell is an award-winning researcher and international speaker. John Brown, MA, MSc

Program Development

A native of Detroit, John spent 15 years as a private practice psychologist in Costa Rica prior to returning to the United States. He worked with Clinical Director Sarah Skoterro providing residential treatment services to young adults in Albuquerque. John holds degrees from Michigan State University, New Mexico State University and the University of Costa Rica, and has provided program development services for more than 20 years to companies and organizations in Central America and the United States.

Ike Kerhulas, PhD

Therapist

Dr. Kerhulas holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and has more than 35 years’ experience in behavioral health, including residential programs for children and adolescents, schools, emergency shelters, domestic violence programs, clinical supervision and addictions treatment. One of the most experienced clinicians in addictions treatment in California, Dr. Kerhulas has treated hundreds of clients providing thousands of hours of direct clinical care. He is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Psychological Association.

Mary Christie, MA

Masters in Counseling Psychology

Mary Christie is a native Californian who has been a licensed psychotherapist for the past 23 years. Mary specializes in treating the effects of trauma which often underlie addiction, and has been a certified EMDR therapist for 9 years. EMDR has been shown to be successful in reducing triggers to relapse in addiction, and it can reduce both anxiety and depression. Mary also uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as tools for growth in individuals and groups. Mary helped to develop, and then manage, the successful Domestic Violence Repeat Offenders Program in Albuquerque, NM from 2004 – 2009. A year-long intensive program, its graduates had a mere 7% rate of recidivism. Mary was the CALPCC (a professional counseling association) Regional Chair for San Diego in 2016, and is now an Expert Consultant for the Board of Behavioral Sciences. While practicing in Virginia (2009 – 2015) Mary served as expert witness in several high-profile court cases involving trauma.
